Analysis Type

This is the 'default' analysis type. Results are not checked against a 'code' (set of rules).

Apart from the stresses calculated if the "general" analysis is selected, the stress components Sp and Sv are calculated according to the Dutch NEN 3650-2:2020 Rules for Pipelines. These stresses are expressed as unit-stresses to the specified limit stress of the pipe material. A stress classification facility is provided, showing as well the cross-sections in which yielding of the pipe material occurs.

Stress weighing factors are predefined implicitly. Load and/or partial factors for the neutral/real top soil load (SOILNB) and the optional top load (TOPLOAD) have to be specified explicitly.

The check stress Sv:pm relates to a primary membrane stress due to primary loads (force-induced loads) and the check stress Sv relates to primary + secondary stresses (wall bending stresses) due to primary + secondary loads (displacement-induced loads).

1) If calculations are performed without 'Soil Ring-Stiffening' the factors in DF5s table BENDFAC are determined according to the NEN rules. In case 'Ovalisation Redistribution' is allowed the tables W-REDIS and T-REDIS in DF6.1 are filled (B-REDIS not!).
2) If calculations are performed with 'Soil Ring-Stiffening' then, under the surface, also the 'Section Model' is set to 'Ovalising' and 'Ovalisation Redistribution' is allowed. Calculations are performed as if the 'General' option was selected. The factors in BENDFAC are determined according to the 'General' rules.
If in PIPEDIM (DF3.1) a BENDPAR < 0.2 appears the factors will be adapted as in the General calculations. Also table B-REDIS will be filled.

In Belgium the limit states of a pipeline are set by law and in case of gas pipelines specific details are referred to the ASME-B31.8 Pipeline Code. These check criteria and performance of the checking are used if this option is selected. Also, e.g. on minimum wall thickness are checked. This module is still under construction.

Checking on the criteria as contained in the ASME B31.8 Pipeline Code will be performed if this option is selected. The specific stress checking is based on the various criteria set for combinations of stresses.
