The hardware key (dongle) used with Ple4Win has a cryptographic processor inside, which is controlled using a bit of internal programming (the firmware). As with normal software, firmware can be changed and re-programmed into the key. Firmware changes can only be done by Wibu Systems, but updating the firmware of a key can be done by a user.
To use Ple4Win, a minimum firmware version of 1.18 is required. However, to ensure compatibility with future developments, it is recommended to use firmware version 4.01 or higher.
1.Open the Codemeter Control Center. 2.In the list on the left, click on a CM-Stick (if the list is empty means the key is not connected or not recognised). Check the firmware version in Version field. 3.Click on the Firmware Update button. A check is performed, if no new(er) version is available for that dongle a message is shown and the process finishes here. 4.If an update is available, a password might be requested, use "CodeMeter" (case-sensitive, without the quotes) if necessary. 5.A warning message will be given. Click OK to confirm. 6.Wait until the progress message disappears, it may take a couple of minutes. 7.On success, a message is shown. Click OK, then unplug the hardware key and plug it in again. 8.After a short moment, the Codemeter Control Center window should update itself and will show the new firmware version. |
