Perform cross-section calculations

Function ready condition: - if input data table SECTION is tested.

Function error condition: 2 error condition, 3 severe warning conditions, 9 warning conditions, 1 information message, 4 messages.

Errors:

E600/1:

Data missing, recalculate from DF5.

Internal data calculated in design function 5 can not be found. Please set back design function 5 and recalculate from there.

(This error can occur after updating a project from a previous version of the program. If only design function 6 is recalculated after the update, not all required data might be present.)

E600/2:

Num of cross-sec. limited to 'number'

The number of elements mentioned in the SECTION table is limited to 'number', even if individual elements are mentioned more than once in the table (i.e. the number of actual elements to be calculated may be less than the limit).

Warning Please note that the limit for the educational version is 50 elements.

Severe warnings:

S62-100:

Alternating Yield calculations not possible: alternate load case database not found or not usable.

The alternating yield load case calculations are not feasible due to the absence or inaccessibility of alternate (parent) load case data.

Or

Alternating Yield calculations not possible: design function 6.2 of alternate load case project not calculated.

The alternating yield load case calculations are not feasible: the design function 6.2 for the alternate (parent) load case project has not been computed.

Or

Alternating Yield calculations not possible: number of nodes not equal in current project and alternate load case project.

The alternating yield load case calculations are not feasible due to an inconsistency in the number of nodes between the current (child) project and the alternate (parent) load case project.

Or

Alternating Yield calculations not possible: analysis type or model options differ between load cases.

The alternating yield load case calculations are not feasible due to discrepancies in analysis types or model options between the respective (parent and child) load cases.

Or

Alternating Yield calculations not possible.

The alternating yield load case calculations are currently not feasible due to an unidentified cause.

S62-101:

Alternate yield check failed, maximum sigma value exceeds allowable value by more than 200%, worst case is at element 'element1' with factor 'value'.

The alternating yield load case assessment did not meet the criteria; the maximum sigma value exceeds the allowable limit by over 200%. The most critical situation occurs at 'element1' with a factor of 'value'.

S62-102:

Yield stress at 20 °C differs between both load cases, which is not allowed. Check performed with limit based upon the lowest value.

The yield stress at 20 °C varies between the two load cases, which is not permissible. A comparison was conducted using a limit based on the lowest value.

Warnings:

W600/1:

Ovalisation is 'value' % of diameter

The ovalisation of an element exceeds 10% of the diameter.

(An ovalisation exceeding 10% is considered to be very large.)

W600/2:

Elements with and without top load

In table SECTION some pipeline parts have a TOPLOAD 'Yes' indicator, some a 'No' indicator.

(Having top loads assigned in table TOPLOAD it is advised to have the same indicator on each input line. Especially when the Ovalising Section Model combined with the Allowed Ovalisation Redistribution is selected in design function 1. When all input lines have a 'Yes' indicator (also in those pipeline parts where no top load is present) a correct redistribution will be performed.

W600/3:

'number1' out of 'number2' elm. not calc ('number')

Not all elements (number1) out of the total amount of elements (number2) are calculated. Between brackets the first not calculated element.

W600/4:

Axial buckling strain > critical one

The calculated maximum axial buckling strain is greater than the critical buckling strain.

(The values are reported in output tables RDISPLC and RDPLMAX.)

W600/5:

Axial torsion strain > critical one

The calculated maximum axial torsion strain is greater than the critical torsion strain.

W600/6:

Did not pass axial buckling check

Did not pass axial buckling check from NEN:

W620/1:

Calculated stress > allowable stress

One of the calculated check stresses in table CSTRMAX exceeds S-ALLOW specified in table SECTION and elaborated in output table CSGEN.

W62-101:

Alternate yield check failed, maximum sigma value exceeds allowable value, worst case at element 'element1' with ratio 'value'.

The check for alternating yield load case has not passed; the maximum sigma value surpasses the allowable limit. The most critical scenario occurs at 'element1' with a ratio of 'value'.

W62-102:

Alternate yield check not calculated for at least one element, as data was missing in the alternate load case project.

The assessment of alternating yield load case was not conducted for at least one element due to incomplete data in the alternate (parent) load case project.

Information messages:

I62-100:

Additional data necessary for alternating yield calculations successfully stored.

The supplementary data required for the accurate computation of alternating yield load case has been correctly saved.

Or

Additional data necessary for alternating yield calculations only partly stored because of premature end of design function calculations.

Due to the premature termination of the design function calculations, only a portion of the required data for alternating yield calculations has been saved.

Messages:

M620/1:

Weak/joint element(s) not calculated

Only WEAK elements have been specified in (a row of) table SECTION.

M620/2:

No elements calculated

Only WEAK elements have been specified in table SECTION.

M620/3:

All elements already calculated

All pipeline cross-sections specified in table SECTION are already calculated including the detailed stresses of the last specified element in table SECTION.

M620/4:

Topload = 0.

The TOPLOAD indicator in table SECTION has been set to YES and (the TOPLOAD-value = 0. and the Loading Redistribution option is OFF or no table TOPLOAD exists).

in output table CSLOAD the relevant TOPLOAD-value will become indicated 0. or UNDEFINED if no table TOPLOAD exists.
